Knowing Anthony Vaccarello.

The rumor ran on runways and in the fashion world but it soon became reality at the beginning of April, Anthony Vaccarello has been named creative director of Yves Saint Laurent. The Italian fashion designer was born in Belgium in 1982 and at the age of 36 years old is in charge of taking over from Hedi Slimane in front of the French house.

Anthony, also dubbed as “king of the new sexy”, went to school in La Cambre and in 2006 graduated with a degree. The same year, he won first place at the International Festival of Fashion and Photography of Hyères, for his collection inspired by the porn star La Cicciolina. Karl Lagerfeld’s attention was grabbed and began working at Fendi where he triumphed as a designer for the skin line of the fashion house.

In early 2009, he presented his first collection of the same name, ready to use in the store Maria Luisa in Paris, composed of five leather miniskirts and organza.

Erotic, contemporary, minimalist style of Anthony Vaccarello is both clear and full of sex appeal. Often drawing inspiration from the “painter of black” Pierre Soulages, the designer creates a dark silhouette balancing the vulnerable nakedness with the radical structure. On other occasions, the designer evokes photographer Herb Ritts’ aesthetic by using bright solid like orange and yellow.

Since then he has won the Association Nationale Vaccarello, he launched two collections and chose Anja Rubik as his androgynous muse of the brand advertising campaign, photographed by Karim Sadli. He continued to play its talent in Versus, Versace’s second line.

When the opportunity presented he said, “Mr. Saint Laurent is a legendary figure for their creativity, style and daring; I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the history of this extraordinary French house “referring to YSL.

François-Henri Pinault confirms it, president and CEO of fashion conglomerate Kering: “I am very proud to welcome this vivid and force young among today talents to Yves Saint Laurent. The unique style of Anthony Vaccarello will express perfectly the creative sign and authority of the maison, continuing the construction of the pillars of the brand and further developing them to show their full potential. ”

Undoubtedly, Anthony Vaccarello impeccably balanced elements of femininity and masculinity in their provocative sharp silhouettes.

In the month of October we will see the first changes of Saint Salurent with the female line that will be presented at Paris Fashion Week. The challenge has begun. Some signature codes will be changed?
